Baripada: Another gruesome case of suspected rape and murder came to light on Saturday with the recovery of the body of a minor girl who had gone missing from a forest near Garudabasa village in Mayurbhanj district on Friday.
The victim’s family members claimed that the girl had gone out to revel in the festivities of Raja with a local youth. After the celebrations, he reportedly took her to a secluded place and committed the heinous crime. He is further accused of strangulating the child to death.
Police swung into action and apprehended the accused.
Two similar cases, of rape of minors, were reported recently. One was a 13-year-old girl who was allegedly raped in Pallahara area of Angul district on Friday and another was a minor girl who had gone missing from Monday. Her body was recovered from Bejengiwada village under Kalimela block, Malkangiri district on Thursday.
