Miscreants Target Another Temple, Take Away Precious Idol In Odisha’s Puri
Puri: Miscreants targeted yet another temple in Odisha’s Puri town and took away its precious idol late Thursday night.
The miscreants managed to break the lock of the main gate of Baba Kapalmochan temple near western gate of Jagannath temple in the town despite presence of police in the area. They stole the stone statue of Lord Nrusingh.
The matter came to light when the priests of the temple came to perform morning puja along with the devotees. On being informed, police went to the spot and started investigation. The servitors have filed a complaint at Singhadwar police station about the theft.
The priests said the idol was installed in the temple long back and was very precious due to it antiquity value. The miscreants might have targeted it to sell in the international market, they added.
Baba Kapalmochan is one of five incarnations of Lor Shiva being worshipped in Puri. Baba Kapalmochan is closely associated with the daily rituals in Jagannath temple.
It may be noted that the idols and their jewellery were stolen from Mukteswar temple in the town a few days. Police was successful in cracking the case and recovered the stolen idols from two persons.
