Balangir: A CRPF jawan, who had been missing since Friday, was found hanging from a tree near Ghasian village under Larambha police limits in Odisha’s Balangir district on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Ganeshram Bhoi. He had returned to his native village on leave just days earlier.
According to sources, a group of villagers spotted the body in an isolated area this morning and immediately informed the police, which recovered and sent it for postmortem.
While family members suspect foul play in his death, police have launched an investigation to determine whether it is a case of suicide or murder. A forensic team is also at the site to collect evidence.
Bhoi’s family was unable to contact him following his sudden disappearance on Friday since he had left his phone at home, sources added.
