Missing Girl Takes To Social Media To Contact Family Back Home In Odisha, Rescued

Malkangiri: She went missing in 2008. The family’s frantic searches yielded no results. Finally, she could contact them via social media and return home after 12 long years.

According to sources, Tulsi Bhumia, a native of Kadamguda village under Mathili police limits in Odisha’s Malkangiri district, got in touch with a resident of Kadamguda, Ghena Bhumia, in May through social media. Ghena informer her family that she was working as a cook at Delhi’s Shankar Road resident Lal Bhawani’s hotel and her employer was reluctant to let her go.

Tulsi’s father Raghunath took up the matter with the district administration, labour office and Mathili police. The officials soon got in touch with their counterparts in Delhi.

On November 4, Assistant Labour Commissioner along with Tulsi’s brother Chakra left for Delhi. Tulasi was rescued with help from Delhi’s Chief Resident Commissioner and Labour Officer and she finally returned home on November 10.
