Nuapada: The body of a man, who went missing after being swept away in a waterfall in Odisha’s Nuapada district, was recovered on Monday after 18 hours of search operation.
A 25-year-old man went missing on Sunday afternoon after he slipped and got swept away in the popular Thipakhol waterfall in Sinapali area of the district.
Following the incident, fire service personnel promptly rushed to the spot and launched a rescue and search operation in and around the waterfall. Search efforts by fire personnel continued in the waterfall area and nearby terrain before the body was recovered on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Basant Kumar, a native of Amalipada area in Chhattisgarh’s Gariabandh district. According to information, Basant Kumar had visited Thipakhol tourist site and entered the waterfall along with his friends as part of a Bol Bam journey.
When he did not return, his companions and others present at the site launched an extensive search in the surrounding areas. After failing to locate him, they informed the Sinapali Fire Service department.
