Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has supposedly rebranded Mission Shakti as ‘Lakhapati Didi Sahayika Yojana’ which aims to encourage women to start micro-enterprises.
While announcing the scheme on Friday in Odisha Assembly, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi said that Community Resource Person for Community Mobilization (CRP-CM), Master Book Keeper (MBK), Bank Mitra and Prani Mitra will also get their pending dues of 10 months.
“I am announcing a new scheme called ‘Lakhpati Didi Sahayika Yojana’. Through this scheme, the government will bear the cost of the salary of community support staff for the time being and provide grants to Gram Panchayat Level Federations (GPLF) for the purpose,” he said.
Later speaking to the media, Deputy CM Pravati Parida said that her government is committed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Lakhpati Didis’. “The CM has announced the scheme today and we hope to make it a success with the number touching 25 lakh by 2027,” she said.
She further said that this will benefit over 62,000 CRPs, who will also be receive wages retrospectively from April 2024.
The ‘Lakhpati Didi’ initiative, a key component of DAY-NRLM, helps SHG members earn a minimum annual income of Rs 1 lakh through various sustainable measures.
This announcement came a day after Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik accused the BJP government of trying to take credit for the achievements of the previous BJD regime, after the address of Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati in the Assembly.
The Mohan Majhi government will also soon rebrand the city bus service ‘Mo Bus’ as ‘Ama Bus’.
Naveen had lunched Mission Shakti, a state-sponsored programme for empowerment of women through Self Help Group approach, on March 8, 2001. The government, under this initiative, provided 0% effective rate of interest to all SHGs for loans up to 3 lakh on prompt repayment.
