Mitron, the so-called Made in India alternative to TikTok, is back on Google Play Store. It was removed earlier for violating privacy policies.
Google had mentioned that the app can be resubmitted if the issues were fixed.
“A number of recent app removals received particular attention in India and we wanted to clarify our actions. Earlier this week, we removed a video app for a number of technical policy violations. We have an established process of working with developers to help them fix issues and resubmit their apps. We’ve given this developer some guidance and once they’ve addressed the issue the app can go back up on Play,” said Google in a statement.
Mitron is claimed to have been developed by IIT Roorkee student Shivank Agarwal.
A Pakistani company had claimed that the source code of the app was developed by them and purchased by Mitron team for around Rs 2,500.
The rating of the app has reduced from 4.5 to 3.9 stars.
The app had recorded over 5 million downloads.
