Odisha: MKCGMCH Docs Remove Crowbar Stuck In Teenaged Boy

Berhampur: A team of doctors at MKCG Medical College and Hospital (MCH) in Odisha’s Berhampur successfully removed a crowbar, which had pierced a 17-year-old boy near the pelvis and was stuck in his abdomen.

The hourlong surgery was conducted on Shakti Pataguru of Talasubranapur village within Kotgarh police limits in Kandhamal district. The boy had slipped fell on the crowbar while removing damaged asbestos sheets from the roof of government upper primary school in Talasubranapur village where he was engaged by a contractors for renovation work.

He was rushed to Baliguda hospital, where the doctors referred him to MKCG MCH at Berhampur. “It was a critical operation since we had to remove the rod without causing any harm to other parts of the patient’s body,” assistant professor I Gopal, who led the team of surgeons, told the media.

Meanwhile, Kotgarh police has registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
