Bhubaneswar: Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahi filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court on Monday to seek registration of a criminal case against the Odisha Lokayukta.
In his petition, Panigrahi alleged that the Lokayukta had submitted a copy of a forged order of the High Court in a case in the SC. He appealed to the apex court to register criminal cases against Lokayukta Chairperson Justice Ajit Singh and Secretary Manas Ranjan Tripathi.
Earlier on August 11, Panigrahi had filed a contempt of court petition against the Odisha Lokayukta in the High Court.
Panigrahi’s counsel Pitambar Acharya said the forgery by the Lokayukta was a judicial impropriety of the highest order.
“Despite being a former Justice, the Lokayukta has not only committed contempt of court, he even went to the extent of forging the HC’s order and challenged the case in the Supreme Court. Such an unscrupulous person is unfit to occupy a quasi-judicial position of the Lokayukta chairperson,” Acharya said.
