Mobile Internet Ban Lifted For 3 Hours In Violence-Hit Districts Of Haryana
Gurugram: The Haryana government partially lifted mobile internet suspension from 1 pm to 4 pm on Thursday in Nuh, Faridabad and Palwal districts and territorial jurisdiction of sub division Sohna, Pataudi and Manesar of Gurugram district.
According to the order by the Department of Home Affairs, the internet ban in Haryana is being lifted in order to facilitate prospective candidates of the CET/Screening Test to download admit cards and necessitate other related tasks.
The internet shutdown was imposed to prevent further disturbance in the wake of communal clashes that took place between two groups during a religious procession on July 31 in Nuh, which then spread to Gurugram over the past two days. Six persons, including two home guards and a cleric, were killed in the clashes.
On Wednesday, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said 116 people have been arrested and 90 detained so far.
“After the initial incident, no fresh violence has been reported. The forces have been deployed in all areas. Around 14 companies of the central paramilitary forces have been called from outside while 21 companies of the Haryana Police have also been deployed…Vigilance is being done day and night…The sense of normalization is coming. If we talk about the last 24 hours, then four fresh FIRs have been registered,” Nuh SP Varun Singla Singla was quoted as saying by ANI.
