Bhubaneswar/Puri: The Mohan Majhi government in Odisha is set to launch a comprehensive statewide urban outreach programme on June 24, marking the completion of two years in office.
Officials announced the initiative on Sunday as a key part of the government’s low-key yet people-centric approach to its anniversary celebrations.
The programme, themed ‘Jan Bhagidari for Viksit Odisha: Empowered Citizens – Inclusive Cities – Sustainable Urban Future’, aims to showcase the government’s achievements in urban development while fostering greater citizen participation. It aligns with the broader vision of ‘Viksit Odisha’ (Developed Odisha) as part of the national goal of ‘Viksit Bharat’.
The flagship state-level event will take place at Town Hall of Puri Municipal Corporation in the presence of Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra. Similar outreach programmes will be organised across all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in the state, emphasising direct interaction with residents.
According to a government statement, the campaign seeks to bridge the information gap between official initiatives and the public by highlighting tangible progress made over the past two years. Key focus areas include improvements in drinking water supply, sanitation, affordable housing under schemes like PMAY (Urban), urban infrastructure, public transport, and digital governance.
Residents will be briefed on major ongoing urban development projects, various welfare schemes, and the government’s long-term roadmap for urban transformation.
In a notable step towards enhanced transparency and responsiveness, the Housing and Urban Development Department will introduce a QR code-based digital feedback platform alongside physical feedback counters at the events. Citizens will be encouraged to submit suggestions, report infrastructure gaps, and provide inputs on urban services, enabling better planning and accountability.
The initiative is expected to generate widespread engagement across cities and towns.
