Odisha: Mohan Majhi Is People’s CM In True Sense, Says ‘Custody Assault’ Victim
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday met the Indian Army Captain, his fiancee, and her father at Loka Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar and assured them of an impartial probe into alleged custody assault case.
Majhi held a brief discussion with the three and assured of strict action against those found guilty.
Deputy CM KV Singh Deo, Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan and revenue Minister Suresh Pujari were also present along with some ex-servicemen, who had been demanding justice in the case.
After meeting the CM, the Army officer’s fiancee said, “Mohan Majhi has proved that he is a people’s CM in the true sense.”
Her father told the media that they are hopeful of getting justice with government ordering a judicial probe into the matter. “I thank CM Mohan Majhi for the judicial inquiry order. Justice will be done in a time-bound manner,” he said.
He also requested the CM for action against people indulging in character assassination of his daughter by circulating video clips of the purported incidents leading to her alleged assault at the police station on social media. “I have requested the government to take action as per the law in this regard. Also, I sought protection for my daughter, who is running a restaurant, at her workplace. The CM has assured to direct the local police to provide necessary security to her,” he added.
Stating that the victims will get timely justice, Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan asserted that government has a zero-tolerance policy towards atrocities against women. “The CM and ministers were out of station when the incident came to the fore. Yesterday, the CM formed a ministerial-level committee to hold discussions with the victims and Army veterans. Accordingly, the CM ordered for a time-bound judicial probe into the incident after arriving in the state capital. In addition, it was decided to request the Orissa High Court to monitor the ongoing Crime Branch probe into the incident,” he told reporters.

He also slammed the Opposition for politicising a sensitive issue. “They should be ashamed for the incidents which took place during the BJD regime and how it had then protected the criminals,” he alleged.
