Monitoring Flash Flood Situation Round-The-Clock: SRC
Bhubaneswar: Expressing concern over reports of waterlogging and bridge collapse at different parts of Odisha following heavy rainfall since last evening, special relief commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi on Monday assured that the state government is on alert and the situation is being monitored round-the-clock.
“Temporary roads and weak bridges have collapsed at different places across the state due to incessant rain. However, less damage was reported in Kalyansinghpur of Rayagada district”, the SRC informed.
Stating that there is no flood-like situation, Sethi said that rainfall activity is expected to decrease in the state from tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) has installed as many as 115 motor pumps to discharge excess water from Roxy Lane, Rajabagicha, Meria Sahi and Patapola in the city.
On the other hand, patients at Niali Community Health Centre in Cuttack district faced difficulties as rainwater entered the labour room and operation theatre of the hospital due to heavy rainfall.
Besides, the authorities of Machhkund reservoir opened two gates to release the first flood water of this season.
