Monsoon Rains To Continue In Odisha Till July 31; IMD Issues Yellow Alert

Bhubaneswar: Heavy rainfall is likely to lash several districts of Odisha till the end of this month under the influence of a strong monsoon flow, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Thursday.

It further informed that the well-marked low pressure area over south Odisha adjoining north Andhra Pradesh & neighbourhood hasdweakened into a low pressure area over south Odisha & adjoining north Coastal Andhra Pradesh. “The Monsoon Trough is now passing through Bikaner, Kota, Raisen, Durg, centre of low pressure area over South Odisha & adjoining North Coastal Andhra Pradesh.”

The MeT office has also warned of squally weather with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40 to 50 kmph along & off Odisha coast, West central adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into sea along & off Odisha coast, Northwest & adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal during this period.

CHECK HEAVY RAIN WARNING

Notably, the SOA’s Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) in Bhubaneswar had earlier forecast another low pressure area in the Bay on July 30. It may trigger heavy to very heavy rainfall in north Odisha districts from July 31 to August 3, it added.
