Bokaro: Four people were electrocuted to death and nine others injured during a Muharram procession in Jharkhand’s Bokaro district on Saturday.
The tragedy took place when one of the tazias – representations of tombs of Hasan and Hussain (grandsons of Muhammad) – being carried in the procession came in contact with an overhead high-tension wire and caused a blast.

The incident took place at Khetko village, under Peterbar police station limits, early this morning.
“Of the 13 injured, four were declared brought dead while seven others are undergoing treatment. Two others with minor injuries have been sent home,” Circle officer Sailesh Chaudhary said.
The deceased have been identified as Enamul Rabb (35), Asif Raza (21), Ghulam Hussain (18) and Sajid Ansari (18).
The injured persons are being treated at Petarbar monitoring medical care and Bokaro general hospital.
Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren expressed his condolence and directed the Bokaro district administration to provide all possible help to the victims.
State Excise minister Bebi Devi, who hails from Bokaro district, went to the district hospital to review the situation and also met the injured persons.
