Bhubaneswar: An Indigo flight from Mumbai to Bhubaneswar has been cancelled due to a mishap in the airport on Thursday.
As per reports, a private jet with 6 passengers and 2 crew members on board crash-landed on the runway at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai. The accident took place reportedly due to poor visibility caused by heavy rains.
The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in a statement said, “VSR Ventures Learjet 45 aircraft VT-DBL operating flight from Visakhapatnam to Mumbai was involved in runway excursion (veer off) while landing on runway 27 at Mumbai airport. There were 6 passengers and 2 crew members on board. Visibility was 700m with heavy rain.”
The private jet was broken into two parts on the impact of the mishap. At least three people, who were injured in the incident, have been sent to hospital. Rescue operations are underway. The CSMIA’s airside team is on the ground to assist with the clearance on-site.
Due to the mishap, Indigo 6E 903 from Mumbai to Bhubaneshwar, which was supposed to take off at 6.10 pm, has been cancelled.
All 202 passengers, who were supposed to board the plane, are in Mumbai airport.
