Mumbai: E-commerce firm Myntra has decided to change its logo after a police complaint was lodged, alleging it to be insulting and offensive towards women.
According to reports, one Naaz Patel of NGO Avesta Foundation had lodged the complaint with Mumbai cyber police last month. The complainant demanded removal of the “abusive” logo and appropriate action against the firm. She had also raised the issue on various forums and platforms on social media, India Today reported.
The Cyber Crime Department of Mumbai Police has acknowledged the complaint. “We found that the logo was offensive in nature for women. Following the complaint, we sent an email to Myntra and their officials came and met us. The officials said they will change the logo in a month’s time,” DCP Rashmi Karandikar said.
A spokesperson for Myntra, which is owned by Flipkart, said the company would revise the logo on its website, app as well as on all packaging material. It has already issued printing orders for packaging material with the new logo, the spokesperson added.
