Bhubaneswar: A number of new facts relating to Naba Das murder case in Odisha have come to light after the polygraph test report of the lone accused and dismissed police personnel Gopal Das surfaced.
Questions are now being raised over the real motive and intention of the dismissed Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of police behind his decision to murder Naba Das, the then Health Minister.
The polygraph report of Gopal Krishna Das, which had been sent to Odisha Crime Branch by the Directorate of Forensic Science, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, surfaced on Friday. Gopal was asked 26 questions during the test. His answer was yes to 13 questions and no to the rest, sources said.
As per the polygraph report, Gopal had stated during the test that a man named Manoj Bariya had told him that Naba Das had been very angry with the policeman for stopping his vehicle and reprimanding his supporters.
Gopal was worried after hearing that the then Minister was angry with him and felt that his life was not safe. Fearing a threat to his life from Naba Das, Gopal started planning to eliminate the then Minister.
However, several questions are being raised after the polygraph test report came to fore. It is asked as to whether the Crime Branch has quizzed Manoj in connection with the case.
As per the Crime Branch chargesheet, Gopal had claimed that Naba Das would have eliminated him if he had not killed the then Minister. The dismissed cop also claimed that he had tried to kill Naba Das twice before but failed.
