Bhubaneswar: Actor Priyanka Chopra and her husband, singer Nick Jonas have named their daughter, whom they welcomed via surrogacy about three months ago, Malti Marie Chopra Jonas.

Citing the birth certificate, TMZ reported that the baby girl was born just after 8 pm on January 15 at a hospital in San Diego, California, and named Malti by her celebrity parents.

While ‘Malti’ is of Sanskrit origin and means a small fragrant flower or moonlight, Marie is from the Latin Stella Maris which means star of the sea. It’s also the French version of the name Mary, the mother of Jesus.

After tying the knot in 2018, Nick and Priyanka announced the child’s birth on January 22 in a post that read, “We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much.”
