Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi will hold a roadshow in Bhubaneswar on June 12 (Wednesday) evening before attending the oath-taking ceremony of Odisha’s first BJP chief minister at Janata Maidan, party sources said on Sunday.
The roadshow will be conducted from Jaydev Vihar to Janata Maidan, where he will also address a presser.
The saffron party is set to form its maiden government in the state after winning 78 of the 147-Assembly seats. It also swept the Lok Sabha polls in Odisha, pocketing 20 of the 21 seats.
Earlier in the day, BJP leaders had informed that the oath-taking ceremony of its first government in the state has been rescheduled to June 12 from June 10 due to Modi’s prior commitments. Though grand preparations are being made for the event at Janata Maidan, the party is yet to declare the name of its CM in Odisha. With Dharmendra Pradhan likely to be inducted in Modi 3.0 Cabinet, the contenders’ list has narrowed down to Suresh Pujari and Manmohan Samal if sources are to be believed.
Notably, this will be Modi’s second roadshow in the state capital within a month.
In May, thousands of BJP workers, supporters and general people thronged Janpath street to cheer Modi as he conducted the roadshow to bolster the party’s prospects in the Lok Sabha and Assembly polls.
