Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday joined the Nari Shakti Vandan Town Hall Meeting in Bhubaneswar, hailing the initiative as a revolutionary step toward empowering women.
The Chief Minister said Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam will play a significant role in building a stronger India. Stating that the law is not just a legislation but a flight of dreams for millions of women, he said it ensures one-third reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies, enabling them to participate directly in policy-making.
When women lead, society and the nation progress together, Majhi said, highlighting Odisha’s leadership in grassroots empowerment, noting that 14.5 lakh women serve as elected representatives in Panchayati Raj institutions. He said the Subhadra Yojana and Lakshapati Didi initiative aim to make every woman economically independent and self-reliant.
Majhi urged collective support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of women-led development, stating that empowered women are the foundation of a prosperous Odisha and a developed India.
Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy said equal representation in Parliament and Assemblies strengthens democracy.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida said Odisha stands as a model for women empowerment, bridging the path from Panchayat to Parliament.
Eminent writer Pratibha Ray praised Odisha’s respect for women and urged every woman to discover her inner strength. Distinguished guests, including Chief Secretary Anu Garg, lauded the initiative as transformative.
