Bhubaneswar: The nationwide strike called by farmers’ organisations under the aegis of Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangh on Sunday evoked a poor response in Odisha.
The strike was observed by the farmers’ body to mark the end of their 10-day agitation.
Though the Navnirman Krushak Sangathan in Odisha is supporting the farmers’ protest, they have decided not to participate in the strike in a full-fledged manner.
All shops, markets, commercial establishments, petrol pumps, government and private offices functioned normally while vehicles plied usually across the state.
The demands of the farmers’ organisations include farm loan waiver, free electricity supply and implementation of the Swaminathan Committee that recommended 50 percent profit to farmers for their produce.
