Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday announced hike in pension for construction workers in the state.
As per the announcement, released from chief minister’s office (CMO), the pension of the workers, registered in Odisha Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board, has been increased.
Such workers above 60 years of age will be paid monthly pension of Rs 1,000 instead of the present Rs 500. Similarly, the pension of the labourers above 80 years has been increased from Rs 700 to Rs 1,000.
The increased pension will come into effect from February, 2024. The Board will bear the additional expenditure in this regard, the release stated.
The chief minister took the decision on the basis of suggestions submitted the workers and their representatives to 5T chairman VK Pandian’s visit to different places in the state earlier.
