Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday requested the Centre to accord iconic status to two tourism destinations in Odisha.
In a letter to Union Tourism Minister Prahlad Singh Patel, he said Odisha has a number of tourism destinations of which the Sun Temple at Konark, the Similipal National Park, Chilika Lake, Bhitarkanika National Park and the Buddhist Circuit are prominent.
Of the five major tourist destinations, the Chief Minister urged the Union minister to accord iconic status to at least two sites.
