Cuttack: The conjoined twins of Nayagarh district Ganga and Jamuna
passed away at Sishu Bhawan in Cuttack on Wednesday night.
The twins breathed their last at around 1 am. The bodies were handed
over to their family members after all the formalities were completed
by the hospital authorities.
“The twins suffered breathing problems and died after their heart beat
stopped last night. We were making all arrangements to shift the
conjoined twins to AIIMS, New Delhi but unfortunately they succumbed”,
Sishu Bhawan Superintendent Saroj Satpathy informed.
Ganja-Jamuna, who were joined at chest and stomach, were born to
Kishore Dutta and Sumitra Dutta of Sarankul at a private clinic in the
district on December 1. They were later admitted to Sishu Bhawan for
advanced treatment.
Health Minister Pratap Jena had assured to provide all assistance
towards their treatment.
