NBW Issued Against Absconding Singer Sourin Bhatt In Harassment Case In Cuttack
Bhubaneswar: With playback singer Sourin Bhatt failing to appear before the court or the police, a Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) was issued against him on Tuesday.
According to sources, the Commissionerate Police had moved the Orissa High Court for an NBW against Sourin after he failed to appear before the police despite the court order.
Amitav Mohapatra, ACP, Zone-II, said they had received the court’s order over rejection of Bhatt’s bail plea and vacation of the interim protection granted to him. Now they would execute the NBW, he added.
It may be noted that a case was registered against 42-year-old Sourin, an established playback singer in Bollywood and Odia film industry, on the basis of a complaint lodged by a woman, a resident of Cuttack city who works in a private bank, at Mahila police station on June 12.
The woman had accused him of false promises of marriage, cheating, torture and exploitation. She also accused the singer of having taken Rs 10 lakh from her.
The Cuttack Mahila Police station has formed a special team to arrest Sourin. But he moved the High Court for bail and interim protection. After the court rejected the pleas, the Commissionerate Police had issued a look-out circular against the singer on September 11.
