Mumbai: After divorcing Arbaaz Khan in 2017, Malaika Arora got into a relationship with Arjun Kapoor.
The couple started dating in 2018, but fell out of love and parted ways in 2024.
Arbaaz remarried Sshura Khan, and the couple is also expecting their first child, while Malaika is currently single and waiting for her ‘Mr Right’.
In a recent conversation with Pinkvilla, Malaika shared that she is not closed to the idea of finding love again or remarrying.
Asked if she would like to get married again, Malaika said, “Never say never. Like I said, I’m a hardcore romantic. I believe in love. I believe in all things about love. So, never say never.”
What advice would she have given to her younger self?
“I would have said, ‘Take your time to get married.’ I would have told my younger self that, definitely. It is (a huge commitment) and ladkiyaan pata nahi kya… itni jaldi shaadi karne ki zaroorat nahi hai. Thoda bohot kaam karlo, thoda understand karlo life ki journey (I don’t understand why girls want to get married so early. They should first work and understand the journey of life) and then take that plunge- which I was… very young when I got married,” Malaika said.
In another interview with Pinkvilla, Malaika opened up about her divorce with Arbaaz and said that people labelled her as ‘selfish’ for thinking about herself.
“It’s hard. Nothing in life is easy. Sabke bohot saare opinions aate hain. Ki aapko life aise jeena chahiye, ye karna chahiye. (Everyone has so many opinions — about how you should live your life, what you should do). But I think relationships are very fragile. Of course I would have loved for my marriage to be forever. But that didn’t happen. I think but that doesn’t mean I have lost faith in love. Or what I have made is a huge mistake. It doesn’t mean I could have changed the course of my life. No. Things that were meant to happen, have happened,” Malaika said.
“There were many situations where one tried to work at things, make sure something good comes out of it. But it came to a point where we just decided ye nahi chal payega. What people forget is…people think it’s wrong to put yourself first. How can you put yourself first? You have to put your child, family, somebody else first. But what is the harm in putting yourself first? And I felt at that point I needed to be happy before making anybody else happy. I was not happy. So I think there were many such opinions, and fingers were pointed at me, saying ‘What a selfish decision’. But that maybe selfish to you. I did what I felt. I feel that decision today has helped me be a better person,” she added.
