New Controversy: Is The New Parliament Building Designed Like A Coffin?
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Parliament building on Sunday ignoring a wave of protests from Opposition parties, but the controversy refuses to die down.
Lalu Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) today compared the design of the new Sansad Bhavan to a coffin.
The Bihar-based party tweeted from its official handle an image of a coffin alongside the photo of the new Parliament building with the caption “what is this.”
“The coffin in our tweet is a representation of democracy being buried. The country will not accept this. Parliament is the temple of democracy and it is the place to have discussions,” RJD leader Shakti Singh Yadav explained the significance of the tweet.

Senior BJP leader Sushil Modi hit back hard at RJD, saying a case of treason should be registered against those who said the new Parliament building’s design resembled a coffin.
BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said, “In 2024, the people of the country will bury you in this coffin.”
Rahul Gandhi spoke his mind on Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurating the new Parliament, instead of President Droupadi Murmu.
“Parliament is the voice of the people. The Prime Minister is making out the inauguration of new Parliament to be his coronation,” the Congress leader tweeted in Hindi.
संसद लोगों की आवाज़ है!
प्रधानमंत्री संसद भवन के उद्घाटन को राज्याभिषेक समझ रहे हैं।
