Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID caseload crossed 600 on Friday as 628 more people, including 96 children below 18 years of age, tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
After reporting less than 500 new COVID infections for three days, the daily caseload in Odisha saw a marginal rise on Thursday with 580 cases. The state had seen 457 new cases on Wednesday while 428 and 471 people were found infected on Tuesday and Monday respectively.

According to the I & PR Department, 367 of the new infections are from quarantine and 261 local contacts. Khurda (291) and Cuttack (72) accounted for 57.80 per cent of these cases. Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, and Sonpur have reported nil cases.
The infection rate in the age group of 0-18 years has gone up by 15.28 per cent from 13 per cent the previous day.

Besides, 66 are the state pool.
With these cases being detected from 62,238 samples, the test positivity rate stands at 1.009 per cent.
Odisha now has 5906 active cases.
