Rayagada: In a shocking incident, a newborn baby boy was found dead alogn a road in Godabarish Nagar area of Odisha’s Rayagada district on Friday.
The tragic discovery was made early in the morning when local residents spotted the infant’s body lying along the road and immediately alerted the police.
According to sources, the body was suspected to have been abandoned by unidentified persons late Thursday night.
The infant’s body, wrapped in a cloth, was allegedly dumped on the road under the cover of darkness.
The circumstances surrounding how the baby ended up on the road remain unclear, but authorities suspect deliberate abandonment.
Police from Rayagada Town rushed to the scene, secured the area, and sent the body for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
A case has been registered and an investigation launched to trace those responsible. CCTV footage in the locality are being examined as part of the probe.
