Bhubaneswar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday filed a chargesheet against two persons in connection with the bomb explosion in Sundarpada area of the capital city in January.
The accused duo has been identified as Rohan Ranjan Rout alias Sonu and Amiya Ranjan Mallik.
The chargesheet was filed in a Special NIA Court under various Sections of the BNS, ES Act and Explosive Act.
The blast took place at around 2.45 pm on January 27 at Sundarpada’s New Azad Nagar, under Airfield police limits. Four persons were preparing bombs on the roof of a building allegedly to commit a crime, when the explosion happened.
All four sustained injuries in the explosion, with two of them passing away while being treated at a hospital. The NIA took over the investigation and re-registered the case on April 4.
NIA, which raided multiple locations in Bhubaneswar, found that the two accused persons were actively involved in the criminal conspiracy and commission of the offence.
Further investigation is underway, said an official.
