Bhubaneswar: KIIT Deemed to be University (KIIT-DU) has secured 4th position among universities in India and the top rank in eastern India in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027, released on Wednesday.
The Bhubaneswar-based university has moved up one place in the national rankings from last year. In the global rankings, KIIT-DU has been placed in the 501-550 cohort.
Expressing happiness over the achievement, Dr Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT and KISS, said, “Every state aspires to have a university ranked among the top universities globally. I am happy that KIIT, despite being a young university in comparison to others, has been placed among the world’s top premier universities. This accomplishment is a source of pride for Odisha specifically and for India as a whole.”
India’s representation in the rankings is led by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, which has been placed at 254th position globally. Several other Indian universities have also featured, reflecting the country’s growing presence in global higher education.
Among these, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (326-350 cohort) is ranked second in the country, followed by Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences (451-500 cohort), Jamia Millia Islamia, KIIT and Lovely Professional University (LPU) in the 510-550 band.
