New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday carried out extensive searches at multiple locations across Jammu and Kashmir as part of its continuing investigations into last year’s Red Fort car‑bomb blast that killed 13 people and injured several others in the national capital.
NIA teams carried out coordinated raids at nine locations in six districts — Srinagar, Baramulla, Jammu, Kulgam, Ganderbal and Handwara — covering suspected hideouts and residences linked to the terror conspiracy, a statement issued by the counter-terror agency said.
During the operations, several digital devices were seized and have been sent for forensic analysis to trace communication trails, financial links and possible involvement of additional associates.
The November 10 blast took place when an explosive‑laden car was detonated near the Red Fort, triggering a major counter‑terrorism investigation. So far, 11 accused have been arrested in connection with the attack, including Umar Un Nabi, a doctor and assistant professor at Al Falah University in Faridabad, who was identified as the suicide bomber and died in the explosion.
Umar is believed to have masterminded the conspiracy in coordination with arrested co‑accused and other associates, with the plot allegedly drawing on networks in Jammu and Kashmir and the Faridabad‑based university. The probe has uncovered links of several accused, including mobile‑phone numbers and financial transactions, pointing to the planning and logistics behind the attack.
The agency said it is continuing efforts to unravel the larger conspiracy behind the terror strike and to identify all those involved in the plot designed to spread mayhem and destabilise the country.
