Bhubaneswar: Amid the prevailing dry weather, Odisha has been witnessing chill with a drop in the night temperature for the last few days.
Similguda in Koraput district was the coldest in the state at 11.4 degree Celsius followed by Kirei in Sundargarh districts at 11.5 and Koraput at 11.6 degree Celsius, the regional centre of India Meteorological Department informed on Monday.
G Udayagiri recorded a minimum temperature of 12 degree celsius, Daringbai (13.5), Sonepur (14.2) and Bhawanipatna (14.8).
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack saw the mercury dropping to 19.4 degree Celsius and 20 degree Celsius respectively.
Phulbani, Bhawanipatna and Parlakhemundi experienced fog and misty conditions, the MeT office added.
There, however, has been a slight rise in the night temperature since the previous day when the mercury had plummeted to 9.1 degree Celsius at Similguda.

According to SOA’s Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC), the incursion of moisture from the Bay of Bengal towards the coast would commence from October 31, causing a gradual increase of water vapour over land which would lead to a rise in night temperature.
Meanwhile, the IMD has forecast light to moderate rain at some places in South Odisha for three days beginning Monday.
