Bhubaneswar: The mercury hovered around 13 degree Celsius in twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack for the second consecutive day, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Sunday.
While Bhubaneswar recorded a minimum temperature of 13.5 degree Celsius, 2.8 degrees below normal in the last 24 hours, Cuttack shivered at 13.4 degree Celsius, one degree below normal.
According to the weather agency, the night temperature dropped below 10 degree Celsius at eight places in the state. Phulbani in Kandhamal was the coldest at 8 degree Celsius followed by Rourkela (8.8), Angul (9), Sundargarh and Daringbadi in Kandhamal each at 9.5 degree Celsius, Koraput and Keonjhar each at 9.6 degree Celsius, and Jharsuguda (9.8).
Dense fog, reducing visibility to 50 metres, was also seen at Koraput and Phulbani in Kandhamal. Keonjhar and Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi experience shallow to moderate fog.
Notably, the MeT office has forecast no large change in the minimum temperature during the next 4-5 days. Shallow to Moderate fog very may prevail one or two places in Kalahandi, Koraput, Kandhamal, Balangir, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda till Monday morning. Shallow to Moderate fog is likely at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Jharsuguda, Koraput, Rayagada during the subsequent 24 hours.
