Night Temp In Odisha To Fall By 3-4°C; Low Pressure Over Bay To Dump Heavy Rain Next Week
Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to witness a gradual fall in the night temperature by 3-4 degree Celsius during the next 3 days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Thursday.
While dry weather will prevail across the state, the MeT office has forecast shallow to moderate fog very at one or two places in Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Malkangiri and Koraput till 8.30 am on Friday.
Meanwhile, a low-pressure area has formed over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of east equatorial Indian Ocean and south Andaman Sea. The system is likely to move gradually westwards and intensify into a well-marked area during the next 12 hours. Thereafter, it would continue to move westwards and maintain its intensity over south Bay of Bengal till the morning of December 17.
The IMD has already forecast heavy rainfall across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal for next Monday (December 19), and these intense conditions may persist throughout next week.
Squally weather with wind speed reaching 35-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is very likely over south Andaman Sea on December 15 and over southeast Bay of Bengal till December 16. The IMD further said that squally wind speed reaching 35-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is likely over southwest Bay of Bengal on December 16 and 17.
Fishermen have been advised against venturing into the south Andaman Sea on Thursday, southeast Bay of Bengal till Friday and southwest Bay of Bengal on Friday and Saturday.
