Bhubaneswar: The night temperature is likely to hover around 11-13 degree Celsius in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack during the next seven days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Friday.
The mercury plummeted to 12.3 and 12.4 degree Celsius in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack respectively, a drop of 3.2 and 2 degree from normal, in the last 24 hours. G Udayagiri, the hill station in Kandhamal, was the coldest in the state at 6 degree Celsius followed by Phulbani (8.5) and Daringbadi (9).
Very dense fog engulfed Koraput, reducing visibility below 50 metres this morning. Dense fog was also seen in Phulbani with a layer of moderate fog in Rourkela and Bhawanipatna. Hirakud and Gopalpur experienced shallow fog.
The weather agency has predicted dense fog at one or two places in Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundargarh and Koraput districts till January 18 morning. Shallow to moderate fog may occur at one or two places in Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Keonjhar and Jharsuguda till January 20 morning.
It added that there will be no large change in the night temperature during the next 4-5 days.
