Bhubaneswar: Nine countries have agreed to participate in the third edition of ‘Make in Odisha’ conclave scheduled to be held from November 30 to December 4 in Bhubaneswar.
Three countries – Japan, Germany and Norway – have already agreed to partner in the mega investment event and take part in the conclave, according to Principal Secretary of Industries department Hemant Sharma.
The third edition of the state’s flagship biennial investors’ meet is scheduled to be held at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
Besides these three, delegations from six more countries including Singapore, Nepal and Australia are slated to attend the event. The partnership will boost ties between Odisha and the countries as the state seeks deeper engagement to attract global investment, Sharma was quoted by TNIE as saying.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is scheduled to inaugurate the event and the industrial expo on November 30. The next day, he will host the plenary session with CXOs and business leaders from across the countries.
An international pavilion will be set up for the partnering countries and overseas delegations at the carnival for which Janata Maidan ground will be converted into a modern state-of-the-art venue.
There will be an exhibition centre, a plenary hall, five session halls, chief minister’s lounge and VIP lounge besides a dedicated media lounge, food court and a grand stage for cultural events. Odisha’s culture, heritage and industrial prowess will be displayed on two large anamorphic screens and six pods at the venue.
After the inauguration of the conclave, sessions relating to emerging sectors, employment, business leadership talks and showcasing Odisha’s value propositions will be held for three days.
There will be no session on the concluding day and the expo will remain open for the public from 11 am to 9.30 pm with mega cultural events scheduled in the evening.
Business leadership talks will bring together CXOs, strategists and entrepreneurs to discuss the trending and emerging opportunities in business.
The event is likely to witness a footfall of about 25,000. Highest priority will be given to industries that create more employment. Emphasis will be on setting up industries using the raw materials available in the state, officials said.
The conclave was previously hosted in 2016 and 2018. In the 2016 edition, the state received over 120 investment intents valued at over Rs. 2 lakh crore. It saw the participation of over 270 exhibitors and witnessed a footfall of over 18500. In 2018, the state received investment intentions valued at over Rs. 4 lakh crore and witnessed a footfall of over 51,000.
The Chief Minister has launched the website and app for Make in Odisha Conclave-2022 and asked various departments to work in close collaboration for the success of the business summit.
