NIST Berhampur’s Energy Conference Focuses On Innovative Technology, Research
Berhampur: A national conference on ‘Energy Sustainability and Society’ focused on identifying innovative technologies, research and design advances and solutions towards a path of renewable and sustainable energy, including utility-level systems integration.
National Institute of Science & Technology (NIST) Autonomous, Berhampur organised the first-of-its-kind conference in association with Indian Energy Congress on December 10. The conference was supported by Odisha Power Generation Corporation and Tata Power Southern Odisha Distribution Limited.
Besides chief guest Bishnupada Sethi, chairman OHPC, other dignitaries like executive director OPTCL Biswaranjan Mishra, former director general CPRI Bangalore Dr Ashok Kumar Tripathy, Indian Energy Congress president Dr Pravakar Swain, IEC president Dr Priyabrata Patnaik and IEC vice-president Dr Pravat Kumar Parhi also attended the conference.
The inaugural session was followed by an expert talk session where keynote speakers included Dr Kanungo Barada Mohanty of NIT Rourkela, Dr Chandrasekhar Narayan Bhende, Professor IIT Bhubaneswar, Dr Prakash Kumar Hota, Professor VSSUT Burla, Dr Balaraman Kannan, former director general National Institute of Wind Energy and Dr Birinchi Bora, deputy director (technical) National Institute of Solar Energy.
A number of technical expert sessions and panel discussions on investigating in renewable energy and sustainability were held. Fifty students participated in poster presentations around the theme of energy sustainability.
The event was coordinated by Dr Sachidananda Prasad, Dr Sandipan Malik, Dr Akankshya Patnaik, Dr Ashwini Kumar Nayak, Dr Aswini Kumar Khunita, Dr Preeti Ranjan Sahu, Arabinda Panda, Nrusingha Prasad Tripathy and Nilesh Dalai.
