Rourkela: The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela has been ranked 26th in the overall category among Indian universities by the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2021.
In the overall list of Asian universities, NIT Rourkela has been placed in the 201-250 bracket rank, while the institute is No. 12 in India in general engineering category.

The Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2021 judge the universities across all core areas — teaching, research, citations, knowledge transfers and international outlook.
According to the rankings, NIT Rourkela is No. 1 in overall category among all the listed NITs In India. It also topped the list in Teaching and Ranking category.
