Bhubaneswar: Central Electricity Supply Utility of Odisha (CESU) has clarified that there has been no changes in domestic electricity tariff and dues of March And April have been adjusted in the bill of May
Following complaints of inflated bills, the CESU said the consumers have to pay for the consumption in March and April in the bill in May. For those who have who have paid the April bill online, it has been adjusted in the May bill.
Since the officials could not take metre reading in April due to the lockdown, the bills were generated on the basis of the last recorded consumption, according to a press release of the CESU.
As CESU could not collect bills, the arrear went up to Rs 300 crore in March-April. As the arrear has been added to the billing made in May, it has increased the billing value of the consumers for the month, it said.
The power utility has also said if consumers have any doubts, they can bring it to the notice of the CESU authorities and assured of addressing the issue on priority basis. The consumers can call toll free number 1912 or 1800-345-7122 to register their complaints.
