[In Pics] No End To Rain Woes Of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack Residents
Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: The fury unleased by the low pressure induced rains poured misery on the twin city of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack with nearly all localities reporting waterlogging.
The downpour was a nightmare for people living in low lying areas with water entering their homes. None was spared – high rises and independent houses or even slums – everyone was witness to the lack of unpreparedness of civic administration.
The plight of people was worse in areas like Jharpada where people were water-locked in the absence of immediate dewatering measures in the capital city.
The Baitala temple, Kedargouri Temple, Sai Temple at Tankapani Road or Megheswar temple, the deities are under water in the absence of drainage facility.
In Cuttack, the situation is pathetic in New LIC Colony, Badambadi, Potapola, Station Square, College Chowk and other low lying areas. The drain water mixed with rain water has added to the troubles of the residents.
The Cuttack Municipal Corporation on the other hand said 200 pumps have been set up and water is being cleared towards the main storm water channel.
