‘No Entry, No Exit’ Barricades Come Up In Berhampur City Amid Rising COVID-19 Cases
Berhampur: Concerned over the alarming rise in COVID-19 cases, the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) on Monday sealed the border areas of the city till further orders.
Briefing mediapersons here, BeMC commissioner Chakravarti Singh Rathore said no person will be allowed to enter and leave the city. All vending zones in Berhampur will remain closed during this period.
Essential services, however, are exempted from the restrictions, he said, adding that vehicles engaged in the transportation of essential commodities will be allowed.

The commissioner further said that the traders will be allowed to enter the city only after showing a copy of the original trade licence. Apart from this, vegetable vendors will be allowed entry after the screening.
He urged the city denizens to strictly adhere to COVID guidelines and warned violators of stern action under the Epidemic Diseases Act.
Of 283 active cases in Ganjam district as on 12 July, 33 were in BeMC area, official sources said.
The corporation has provided four COVID ambulances for the public. Anyone having COVID-19 symptoms can call the ambulance support at 0680-2250290.
