Singapore: Investigations into the death of singer Zubeen Garg are continuing, with Singapore police stating that there is currently no suspicion of foul play.

Garg died under mysterious circumstances while swimming in the sea in Singapore, where he had gone to perform, on September 19.

According to the Singapore Police Force (SPF), the case is being investigated under the Singapore Coroners Act 2010. “Based on our investigations so far, the SPF does not suspect foul play in the death of Garg,” the police said in a statement issued on Thursday.

Upon completion of the investigation, the findings will be submitted to the State Coroner, who is scheduled to conduct a Coroner’s Inquiry (CI) in January and February 2026. The CI is a fact-finding process to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the death, and its conclusions will be made public.

The SPF said it is committed to carrying out a thorough and professional investigation and urged the public to refrain from speculation and the spread of unverified information.

Meanwhile, a Special Investigation Team in India has charged four individuals, including Garg’s secretary Siddhartha Sharma and festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, with murder in a chargesheet filed last week.
