Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced a ban on all commercial vehicles older than 10 years that are registered in other states.
Following directions from Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena, the State Transport Authority (STA), Odisha, has issued orders to all Regional Transport Officers (RTOs) to enforce the decision.
According to the directive, no new permits will be issued for out-of-state commercial vehicles older than 10 years to operate or enter Odisha. Additionally, RTOs have been instructed not to allow any change of address, transfer of ownership, or acceptance of any transport-related taxes or fees for such vehicles.
The step is expected to bring improvement in road safety standards across the state, reduce the number of unfit vehicles on the roads, and lower pollution caused by old vehicles, the department said.
