Bhubaneswar: Normal banking service in the cyclone-hit coastal districts of Odisha will resume by May 13.
A decision to this effect was taken at the State Level Bankers Committee meeting presided over by Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi at the State Secretariat here on Friday.
Talking to mediapersons after the meeting, Principal Secretary, Finance, Ashok Meena said banks have been advised to follow the Kerala model by accepting minimum documents required for providing loans to the affected persons.
He also said that banks have also been advised to make arrangements for providing ATM service to the customers in Bhubaneswar and Puri.
“It was decided that the banks will engage 15 mobile ATM vans for Puri and 15 for Bhubaneswar,” he added.
It may be noted that, 60 out of 239 bank branches and 20 out of 273 ATMs in the worst-affected Puri district and 372 out of 707 bank branches and only 197 out of 1164 ATMs in Khurda district and Bhubaneswar have been made operational till Thursday.
