Normal Business Resumes In Odisha Assembly
Bhubaneswar: The budget session of the Odisha Assembly which was stalled for two days due to ruckus by the Opposition Congress and BJP members, became normal on Thursdaywith the smooth conduct of question hour session in which the ruling BJD government and the Opposition participated in the discussion.
As soon as the House session began, Speaker Pradip Amat announced the question hour session and asked School and Mass Education minister Badri Narayan Patra to reply to the question of Congress member Naba Das.
Various issues like setting up of science laboratory in each school, appointment of science teachers and infrastructure of existing and upcoming schools in the state was discussed during the session in which the minister replied to the questions of BJD and the Opposition members.
This was followed by another session on Health and Family Welfare in which the concerned minister Pratap Jena spoke about the steps taken to improve health care services in rural, urban and remote areas in the state.
The Speaker later asked for a discussion on the adjournment motion on the topic ‘plight of farmers and apathy of the state and Centre’ brought by the Congress on Wednesday.
The issue could not be discussed in the House on Wednesday due to the ruckus by the BJP members over the arrest of their party leader Jayanarayan Mishra in connection with Banabira firing incident.
Terming the adjournment motion brought by the Congress as baseless, Agriculture minister Pradip Maharathi said the motion has no meaning in the context that Odisha has received the Krishi Karman Puraskar from the Centre consecutively for the fourth time.
