Bhubaneswar: There will be a dip in temperature in most parts of Odisha in the next 24 hours as the India Meteorological Department (IMD), in its mid-day bulletin, on Tuesday predicted Nor’wester-triggered rain for three days.
Talking to the media, Duty Officer of the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, Ramesh Nayak said a trough line formed at 0.9 km above mean sea level from northern parts of Gangetic West Bengal to the south of Chhattisgarh has become less marked. Besides, a cyclonic circulation extending up to 0.9 km above mean sea level lies over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and the neighbourhood.
“Due to the change in the weather condition, the day and night temperature in Odisha has come down as the wind blowing from the sea towards the surface area has enough moisture. As a result, light rain or thundershower is likely to occur at one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Balangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Rayagada in the next 24 hours on March 13,” he said.
However, he said that the IMD has issued thunderstorm warning for the next two days on March 14 and 15.
“For March 14, we have issued a warning for thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind at one or two places in north interior Odisha, Nayagarh and Kandhamal districts in the south. Similarly, for March 15, we have sounded warning for thunderstorm and lightning accompanied by the gusty wind at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Angul districts,” Nayak added.
