New Delhi/Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that she is “shocked and stunned” by the “unilateral order” that asked the state’s Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay to report to the Central deputation.
“The government of Bengal cannot release, and is not releasing, its Chief Secretary at this critical hour, on the basis of our understanding that the earlier order of extension, issued after lawful consultation in accordance with applicable laws, remains operational and valid,” Mamata wrote in a long letter.
The Chief Secretary was directed to move to the Centre after a row over Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee not attending a meeting with PM Narendra Modi to assess the impact of Cyclone Yaas on Friday.
