Bhubaneswar: Noted Odia writer Kishore Akash passed away in New Delhi on Wednesday following a brief illness. He was 68.
Kishore Akash was undergoing treatment in the ICU of a hospital after he suffered a stroke two weeks ago. He breathed his last on Wednesday, family sources said.
Known for his versatility and unique writing skill in contemporary Odia literature, Kishore Akash had published eight collections of short stories and ten plays. This apart, he has written four books of children’s literature.
After completing his postgraduation in Odia from Berhampur University, he joined UCO Bank and retired as a senior manager. A few days before his death, he was trying to publish a collection of selected works of departed writers of Ganjam district. He was highly optimistic about the future of Odia literature.
